This five-week course explores the relevance of visual literacy in the classroom and its connection to the Common Core Standards. The course includes opportunities for educators to practice concept mapping, inquiry-based discussion, and multi-modal activities in their own classrooms and reflect within a collaborative peer learning community. Participants will learn effective strategies to guide student discussions about works of art and create a portfolio of visual literacy activities based on the North Carolina Museum of Art's collection.
